Spiritual Direction
Spiritual direction—also known as spiritual companioning, soul care, or spiritual guidance—is a sacred and confidential relationship in which one person journeys alongside another to listen for the movement of the Holy within the ordinary rhythms of life.
At its heart, spiritual direction is not about being “directed,” but about being accompanied. The focus is on the directee’s lived experience and their deepening relationship with God, however they understand the Divine. The director offers presence, discernment, and prayerful attention, helping the directee notice, savor, and respond to the invitations of the Spirit in their everyday life.
Spiritual direction is not counseling or therapy; it is not problem-solving or advice-giving. Instead, it is a contemplative practice rooted in deep listening, compassionate curiosity, and trust in the Spirit’s guidance.
Sessions typically occur once a month and are held in sacred confidentiality.
To learn more about the ancient and evolving practice of spiritual direction, we invite you to visit Spiritual Directors International, a global learning community that honors the many ways people experience the Mystery we call God.
